Paraíso Tranquilo

For those wanting to relax…

Cenotes

A cenote is a sinkhole in limestone, creating a cave or exposing underground caverns. These often fill with fresh water from underground rivers and rainwater, creating a natural refreshing pool. There are over 6,000 cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and some have been opened to the public. These are a few of our favorites.

Cenote Azul

Cenote Azul

This cenote is an open lagoon giving sum to the plants and wildlife, creating crystal clear, blue water. There are many places around this cenote to relax. If you are more adventurous you can snorkel or jump from the edge of the cenote cliff to the cool water beneath. Here you will also find pool of small fish that will eat the dead skin off your feet, like the spa fish you pay for on 5th Avenue.

Cenote Tamcach-Ha

Cenote Tamcach-Ha

This is one of three cave cenotes near the village of Coba and the Coba Ruins. Tamcach-Ha is a deep cenote that you enter by stairs in a small opening in the ground. The cave is round and open and the water is a deep blue. You can just relax in the pool or you can jump off the 5m and 10m platforms into the refreshing water. While you are in the area check out Cenote Choo-Ha and Multum-Ha.
