Paraíso Tranquilo

For those who want the beach…

Of course many come to Riviera Maya, Mexico to enjoy the beautiful beaches. But with so many, how can you choose which to visit. Here is a guide to some of my favorite beaches in the area.

Calle 38

Calle 38, Playa del Carmen

This is the closest beach entrance from Vista del Mar, just 4 blocks away. There is plenty of access both north and south of the entrance, often with opportunity to rent an umbrella or chair.

Mamitas Beach

Mamitas Beach, Playa del Carmen

Just a few steps south of Calle 38 is Mamitas Beach with Mamitas Beach Club, a very popular beach area for the fashionable type. Here you can rent umbrellas and recliners and have access to club staff. There is always music playing to entertain the hip crowd. Mamitas Beach can easily be accessed from Calle 28.

Grand Carasol

Beach at Grand Corasol, Playa del Carmen

About a mile north of Paraíso Tranquilo, you will find Grand Corasol Resort and Beach Club. This is a great beach for relaxation away from the crowds. For a nominal fee (which you can use toward food and drink) you have access to umbrellas, beach chairs, pool and facilities. This beach area also has Playa Boardsports where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, and learn to kite surf.

Xpu-Ha

Xpu-Ha

This public beach is between Playa del Carmen and Tulum and offers a nice beach with access to umbrellas and chair rentals as well as restaurants. They also offer some light musical entertainment.

Akumal

Akumal

Akumal beach is known for turtle watching. There are guided tours available to those who wish to snorkel with the turtles in an environment that is safest for the animals. The beach is nice with a fee for entry and access to their showers and facilities. There are a number of restaurants including Lol-Ha and small shops.
